Gwenna Jean McCoy

Gwenna Jean McCoy, 60, longtime resident of Wichita Falls passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2013 after a brief illness. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Overcoming Word Praise Center, 4301 Cedar Elm in Wichita Falls with Pastor Mark Graham officiating. Graveside Services will be at 1:00 PM at the Davidson Cemetery in Davidson, OK. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:30 Monday evening at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.

Mrs. McCoy was born October 11, 1953 in Perryton, TX to Glenn Phillips and Lolella (Daniels) Phillips. She graduated from Hooker High School in Hooker, Oklahoma and later moved to Wichita Falls in the late 1970’s. She was employed at Certainteed for 15 years and it was there that she met her future husband, Larry McCoy. They were united in marriage on April 14, 1985 in Wichita Falls. Gwenna loved the Lord and was a member of Overcoming Word Praise Center here. She liked to sew and she and Larry enjoyed traveling. Gwenna was known to all by her special smile and her contagious laugh.

Gwenna was preceded in death by her mother and several other family members. Survivors are her husband, Larry McCoy; her father, Glenn Phillips, both of Wichita Falls; children, Stephanie Wright and husband, Justin of Rockwall, TX, Andy McCoy of Austin, TX and Chris McCoy of Lawton, OK; grandchildren, Tyler Wright, Skyler Wright, Levi Wright, Lynsee Wright, Natasha McCoy, Bianca McCoy, Abby McCoy and Krysten McCoy.
