Janet Patricia Allen

March 13, 1943 – March 24, 2022

Janet Patricia Allen, age 79, of Wichita Falls, Texas passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022.

Janet was born March 13, 1943 and grew up in Saint Jo, Texas. Janet had Down Syndrome and at the time of her passing was quite possibly the world’s oldest living female with that condition. She was blessed to have lived much longer than her original life expectancy and even longer than the current life expectancy for someone born with Downs.

Throughout her life she was cared for by family or lived in group homes for those with special needs. In her prime, she even lived semi-independently and held a productive job in the community. In later life, she lived with her niece, Barbara Anderson, who became her offical foster until her passing in 2019.

Janet was truly loved by all who met her and leaves a wonderful legacy of touching so many people with her sheer joy of life. Janet's long life meant she was preceded in death by all of her immediate family, but is survived by members of the Allen, Taylor, McWhorter, and Anderson families she was such an important part of until her passing.

A memorial service for Janet will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home Chapel, 1917 Archer City Highway, Wichita Falls, Texas.
