

Jimmie Earl Rogers was born February 20th, 1940, to Hutto & Malone Rogers in rural Jefferson County, Alabama. He passed peacefully on Friday June 20th, 2025 in Lubbock, Texas. He was one of 10 children (7 surviving). He joined the army at a young age, and later the United States Air Force, serving with honor during the Vietnam War in air rescue and helicopter mechanics. He has two Purple Hearts and was awarded eleven of “The Air Medal” for meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight in the Republic of Vietnam. He also received a Unit Commendation for participating in Project Apollo- the Manned Spacecraft Recovery for the Apollo missions. Those that knew him well knew he was proud to have served and wore his Purple Hearts cap with pride. He retired at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls where he has lived for more than 50 years. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Hattie Rogers. He is survived by his daughter- Wendy Renee Thal (husband Michael Thal), son- Gregory Lee Rogers (wife Christie Rogers), son- Barry Scott Rogers, many grandchildren, and great- grandchildren that he loved greatly.
