John Richard Kent

He was born to Eddie and Sara Kent on February 27, 1936 in Bessemer, Alabama, where he grew up as one of eleven children. After graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force. John’s commitment to our country took him all over the world, including a tour to Vietnam. His service to this great country was something that he was very proud of and something that his family will remain proud of and forever grateful for.

In 1958, John met and married Bonnie May Lezalier. John & Bonnie went on to have four children, John Richard Kent, JR, Sandy Kent, Clark Kent and Barry Kent. He later remarried Elaine Kent of Wichita Falls and shared three stepsons, Gary, Travis and Rodney Cline.

John spent his life helping others. He will be remembered as a strong leader of his family who was always eager to help and show kindness to anyone who crossed his path. He will always be admired for his lifetime of service to our family and his 20 year service to our country.

John joins his parents, many brother and sisters, his first wife and many friends in Heaven.

He is survived by many loving family members, including brothers, sisters and his children, John Richard Kent of Sugarland, TX, Sandy Kent of Wichita Falls, TX, Clark Kent and wife Connie of Wichita Falls, TX, Barry Kent of Wichita Falls, TX, and a special daughter in law Cindy Haugenater and husband Mike of Sugarland, TX, 6 grandchildren; John Kent III of Houston, TX, Tiffany Salinas and husband, Alvaro of Houston, TX, Candy Bernhardt and fiancé, Mark Bouchard of Dallas, TX, Marvin Cogdell IV and wife Katie of Byers, TX, Brandon Cogdell and wife Ashley of Midland, TX, Britta Kent of Wichita Falls, TX and many great grandchildren.

A funeral service for John will be held Friday, March 11, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home, 1917 Archer City Highway, Wichita Falls, Texas. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Memorial Park, 1917 Archer City Highway, Wichita Falls, Texas.
