John, fondly known as Keith, was born to Jack and Avis Nelson, on January 16, 1936, in Iowa. He joined the service where he met is wife Yuki Aoki in Yokohama, Japan. After retirement, he enjoyed volunteering at various community organizations, reading, spending time outdoors with his dog and spending time with family.
Keith is survived by his son Ken (Michelle) Nelson, his stepson Robert Aoki, his brother David (Sandy) Nelson, his grandchildren; Christopher(Tawny) Nelson, Eric (Ally) Nelson, Alexandra Nelson and Jason Cooper, his niece Janna (Dane) Holland, multiple great grandchildren, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Yuki Nelson and his parents Jack and Avis Nelson.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 10 AM, with Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home.
