
Joy was born on February 12, 1937, in Wichita Falls, Texas to parents Metta Hoyer and Bethel Lamay Moore. She married her sweetheart, Benny Charles Sinclair, on August 3, 1954, in Wichita Falls, Texas and together they raised three children. They were married for 57 years until his death in 2011. Joy had five sisters in which three are preceded in death, Jo Glidewell, Georgia Keyser, and Mary Higginbotham, and granddaughter, Amanda Holzer. Two sisters living are, Sue Hadley and Judy Ward.
Surviving Family members include her children, Jerry and Carla Sinclair (Burkburnett, TX.), Danny Sinclair and fiance Marilee Hartman (Austin, TX.), Elaine and Lynn Holzer (Corpus Christi, TX.), 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on February 11, 2026, from 6 to 8 pm, and a Service celebrating Joy's life will be on February 12, 2026, at 10 am. Both will be held at the Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home located at 1917 Archer City Hwy, Wichita Falls, Texas 76302.
A committal service will follow at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home & Memorial Park.
While her children were in school, she worked a daytime job and at night for 6-plus years she earned her bachelor's degree in teaching from Midwestern State University. She became a teacher in the Wichita Falls Independent School system teaching at the elementary level and earned her master's degree. She retired in 1998 after 26 years of teaching. She loved being in the classroom with her pupils. Benny and Joy enjoyed 15 plus years of retirement together on their land outside of the Wichita Falls area. They loved having friends and family at their home and the biggest highlight of their life was the 4th of July get together every year. She was greatly loved by all who knew her.
