

Kevin Ray Compton, 25, of Wichita Falls died Sunday, October 3, 2010 in Baylor County following an automobile accident. Services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church officiated by Reverend Ike Butterworth and Mr. Taz Ellet. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park directed by Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
Kevin was born March 18, 1985 in Wichita Falls to Ronald K. and Vicki (Gamble) Compton. He graduated from Rider High School where he was very active in sports. He was an All District Offensive Guard in 2001 and 2002; represented S.H. Rider High School in the Oil Bowl of 2003; Manager of the Rider Baseball Team for the spring of 2003; participated in Track and Field all four years at Rider; and he was a member of Student Council 2002-03. He earned his Bachelor of Arts at Midwestern University in December 2009, and had done his coaching internship at Rider High School and volunteered for the Rider Football Camp this summer. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he was involved with Student Ministries. Kevin loved life and his family. He enjoyed playing golf, soft ball for Ronnie’s Boys in the city league, hanging out with all his friends, and going to the lake. He was his dad’s best buddy.
Mr. Compton is preceded in death by his grandparents, Clifton L. and Goldie (Peggy) Compton; great-grandparents, Roy G. and Velma Gamble and Vella Mae Maneely; great-uncle, Roy G. Gamble, Jr.; and great-aunt, Gerri Newton.
Survivors include his loving parents, Ronnie and Vicki Compton of Wichita Falls; brother, Michael K. Compton of Tuscaloosa, AL; grandparents, Charles R. and Charlotte Gamble of Wichita Falls; uncles and aunts, David and Rhody Elliot of Frisco, TX, Gorman and Cathy Gamble of Wichita Falls, Tanya Kay Stephens of Wichita Falls; many cousins and close friends; and his dogs, Braxton and Hank.
Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
