

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the Warehouse Event Venue, 1401 Lamar St., Wichita Falls, Texas 76301. A visitation reception with family and friends will follow the service.
Bob was born on October 31, 1949 in Paxton, Illinois to Bobbie and Lexie Jacqueline York. He graduated from Wagner High School, Republic of the Philippines in 1968, and had a number of college credits. He joined the United States Air Force in 1969, and was discharged follow Vietnam service at the rank of Sergeant in 1973. Upon his discharge, Bob worked as an electrician for IBEW Local 440 out of Santa Ana, California. In 1978 he moved to Wichita Falls, and joined the Wichita Falls Fire Department. After 21 and ½ years, he retired at the rank of Lieutenant.
Bob found his lifelong love of representing the members of the Wichita Falls Professional Fire Fighters Local 432, a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters, and the Texas State Association of Fire Fighters. He served in a number of positions on the Executive Board of Local 432, including President for 9 years. In 1989 he ran for, and was elected to District Vice President of the Texas Association of Fire Fighters, where he served until 1995 when he was elected State Secretary-Treasurer. He served in that position until 2013. In his years in the Fire Service, he and his father owned the building firm of York Builders, Inc. where they built a number of homes in and around Wichita Falls.
Bob was a member of Wichita Falls Lodge #635 A.F. & A.M., and Maskat Shriners. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge, DAV, and American Legion.
He is survived by his daughters, Shannon Larson and husband Mike of Claremont, California, Katy Hines of Earleville, Maryland and Carly Allen and husband Jason of Austin; nine grandchildren, Nicholas Paxton, Jayden Allen, Abigail Hines, Britney Hines, Jackson Allen, Rylee Rivera, Corin Hines, and George Larson; and sisters Lexi Schuh and husband Walter of Belton, and Marcia Dianne York of Waco.
Bob was blessed to have many friends, and he cared for them deeply. Memorials may be made in Bob’s name to Beyond Faith Hospice, 1702 Kell W Blvd, Wichita Falls, TX 76301, or the Muscular Dystrophy Association (www.mda.org).
