Willie McCandless

A visitation for Willie will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home Chapel, 1917 Archer City Highway, Wichita Falls, Texas. A funeral service will be on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 1:00 PM, 1917 Archer City Highway, Wichita Falls, Texas. Burial will be Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Hope Cemetery, Henrietta, TX.

Willie, or as we knew her, Momma McCandless was born on June 6, 1925, in Atlanta, Texas. She was one of the 17 children of Jessie and Carrie Lummus. Willie worked for Texas Instruments for over 25 years in Semi-conductor cleanroom equipment operation. She was an incredibly intelligent woman with a memory that stayed sharp up until her passing.

Willie met J. T. McCandless and they were married on February 7, 1942 and they had three children, Carrie, Shirley and John.

Willie was preceded in death by her husband, JT McCandless and her daughter, Shirley Conner.

She is survived by her son, John T. McCandless, Son-in-law, Doyle Conner, 3 granddaughters, Victoria Melancon, Kathleen Deel and Megan McCandless, as well as 4 great grandchildren, sister, Jane Oldham, brother, Arthur Lummus and her beloved dog, Susie.
