Barbara Marie Gugler, age 82, of Rowlett, Texas, passed away on February 9, 2026. She was born on November 1, 1943, in Hobbs, New Mexico, to Leonard D. and Marcella F. (Woods) Howard.
Barbara, lovingly known as Barb by family and friends, grew up in Wichita, Kansas, and graduated from Southeast High School before attending Friends University. On May 20, 1972, she married the love of her life, Herbert E. Gugler. They shared 50 wonderful years of marriage until Herb’s passing on June 22, 2022. The couple honeymooned in New Orleans, a memory Barbara cherished throughout her life.
In her early career, Barbara worked as a secretary at Beech Aircraft. She later devoted herself full‑time to raising her three sons before returning to the workforce in the late 1980s. She went on to work at Burlington Coat Factory and later at Sears, where she spent nearly two decades before retiring in the early 2000s.
Barbara was a woman of quiet strength, deep kindness, and unshakable devotion to her family. She attended Andover United Methodist Church and enjoyed attending holiday services with her parents at Eastminster Presbyterian in Wichita. Her interests were wide and varied—she loved sewing, gardening, pottery, movies, and learning about health and wellness. She approached every interest with curiosity and enthusiasm.
More than anything else, Barbara was a loving and attentive mother. She never missed a birthday and thoughtfully mailed cards to her family and friends, often including homemade brownies or chocolates for her sons. She was steady, patient, and endlessly giving. Her family always knew they could rely on her, and her gentle spirit will continue to guide them.
Barbara is survived by her sons, Marc L. Gugler (Piche), Troy E. Gugler, and Cory D. Gugler; and her grandsons, Adrian L. Gugler and Brennen L. Gugler.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herb; her parents, Leonard and Marcella Howard; and her brother, Leslie D. Howard.
Barbara’s warmth, generosity, and devotion to her family will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
