Barbara "Barb" S. Keys, age 72 passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. She was born April 7, 1952. She was beloved by her parents, Robert V. Haderlein and Patricia A. (Barkell) Haderlein.
Barb graduated from Girard High School in 1970 and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education from Pittsburg State University. As a teacher, she impacted numerous middle and high school students by introducing them to technology and helping them develop employment skills. On June 22, 1985, she married Thomas "Tom" Keys and they settled in Wichita, Kansas. In May 1986, they welcomed their daughter, Katie.
Barb found joy in all types of nature. She loved flowers and enjoyed sharing their beauty with others. Her passion for gardening led her to be an early adopter of farm-to-table meals. She also took great pleasure in watching the variety of birds who frequented her yard.
She was a preceded in death by her grandfathers and grandmothers; mother and father-in-law; parents, Robert and Patricia Haderlein; daughter, Katherine "Katie" Keys; brothers-in-law, John Keys and Rob Self; and sister-in-law, Judy Reschke.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 39 years, Thomas "Tom" Keys; siblings, Trisha Self and Mike Haderlein; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Graveside Service for Barbara will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 25th, at Lakeview Cemetery in the Garden of Apostles, 12100 East 13th Street North, Wichita, Kansas 67206.
