BernaDene Spriggs, 89, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
BernaDene was born on August 30, 1936, in Wilroads Gardens, Kansas, to Gordon and Bessie Vance. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Paul Spriggs; parents; and sisters, Marjorie Snell, Cara Lee Howard, and JoAnn Leisure.
She is survived by her daughter, Lori Nelson; stepdaughter, Mary Hill (Paul); stepson, Paul Spriggs (Dallas); grandchildren, Nicholas Nelson (Emma), Reagan Nelson, Corey Spriggs (Ali); and great-grandchildren, Genevieve Nelson, Alex Spriggs, Olivia Spriggs and many nieces and nephews.
BernaDene worked for many years as a legal secretary. She loved the Lord deeply and was active in her church, where her faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She was devoted to her family and took great joy in attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and dance competitions.
BernaDene lived an active life and was an avid runner, completing several marathons. She and her husband Bob enjoyed snow skiing and playing tennis together. She was also a loyal sports fan who enjoyed watching tennis, basketball, and football.
Known for her sharp wit and colorful expressions, Berna Dene had a strong personality and a great sense of humor. Even into her 80s, she remained committed to staying active, walking daily in her retirement community and frequently winning walking contests.
Visitation will be held at Lakeview Funeral Home on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 1958 N. Webb Road, Wichita, Kansas. A reception will follow at the church. Private family inurnment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery.
