67, truck driver passed away March 27, 2016. He was born on August 21, 1948 to Bryant and Geraldine Newman in Waldron, Arkansas. In 2007, Bill moved to Kansas where he volunteered and cooked meals for the food pantry and was an active member of Lighthouse Community Church. He was preceded by his father, Bryant Newman; and brother, James "Jake" Newman. He will be missed and is survived by Wife, Brenda "Dyann" Newman of Wichita; sons, Billy Newman Jr. of Wichita, Robert Wayne Melton of Nebraska, and Shawn Odis (Rhonda) Melton of Oklahoma; daughters, Suzette Bonita Slinkard of Arkansas, Cheryl L. Lunsford of Oklahoma, and Laura Yandell of Arkansas; mother, Geraldine Newman; sisters, Frances Farber of Wichita and Elaine Averette of Alabama; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Lighthouse Community Church, 3401 E. 47 St. S., Wichita, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Bill "Toby" Newman Fund.
