Hill, (William) Billy D., 83, A small servant of the Lord. An American Indian from the Muscogee (Creek) Nation; also given the name Meeko', meaning chief warrior. “The old ones” of the tribe would speak of God who had a son, who walked upon the green earth, clothed in red, who was sacrificed for them on a cross, and brought back to life 3 days later. Billy believed and was baptized in a pond behind a small church in Holdenville, OK where he was born. After losing both parents at a young age and his brother in WWII, he became an orphan. Life was not easy for him at the orphanage and he dreamed of a family of his own someday. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War. Upon coming home from the war he began a lifelong career at Boeing where he retired in 1995. While at Boeing he saw the love of his life Pansy Marie Sackett. They married in 1955 and shared 58 beautiful years together. A love story come true, they had 5 children, lots of grandkids and great grandkids – he cherished his family and enjoyed the moments he had with them. Every night you could see him reading his Bible. He was a humble man with a gentle soul. He was a charter member and deacon of Metropolitan Baptist as well as Southwest Baptist. He would faithfully visit the sick and greet people at the church doors with a friendly handshake and a big smile. He was an avid KC Chief and OU fan. He enjoyed sausage egg biscuits, walking at the mall and teasing his friends. Later in life he enjoyed the game bean bag baseball where he lived. In his lifetime he overcame many health issues but on May 6, 2014 his gentle heart stopped beating as he came to the end of the trail of this earthly life and began the journey of eternal life in the presence of his Savior Jesus Christ as he heard the words “Well done my good and faithful Servant.” Preceded in death by parents Jackson and Lizzie Hill, brother Lewis, grandchild Sarah and great grandchild Christopher. Survived by his beloved bride Pansy, daughter Kim Main, son David Hill, twin daughters, Toni (Richard) Wilson, Terri (Don) Burrows, daughter Pam Hill, grandchildren Richard (Andi), Rustin (Holly), Cory (Jodi), Joel, Rachel (Sergio), Jessica, Janelle, Megan and 12 great grandchildren. Visitation with family at Resthaven Mortuary, Friday May 9 at 6 to 8 pm. Funeral services at Metropolitan Baptist Church, Saturday, May 10 at 11:00 am. Burial service at Fort Scott National Cemetery Monday, May 12 at 11:00 am.
