Carl Duane Gordon, 73, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2017. He was born May 15, 1944 in Fredrick, Oklahoma, shortly after his birth the family moved to Wichita, KS. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Carl W. Gordon and Gladys Marie (Harris) Gordon. He is survived by a brother, sister, as well as many nieces and nephews. Duane graduated from South High School in 1964, as a teenager he enjoyed dancing to rock and roll music. He loved to dance after school on the local TV program version of American Bandstand. When Duane was 21 years old, he was in a car accident and received a brain injury. Many years he lived at home with his parents, dabbling in oil painting, loving western music with his dad. Upon moving into the KETCH (Kansas Elks Training Center), program he further developed his artistic talents. Duane has a painting at the Wichita Arts Council. Many of his paintings have been purchased through the years. As an artist of note he also has donated many paintings to be auctioned off as fund raisers for the KETCH programs. A celebration of Duane's life will be held 11a.m. Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Resthaven, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209. Memorials may be made to charity of choice.
