Charles Geer

Charlie was born in Sweetwater, Texas and raised in southern California. After high school Charlie pursued a carer in minor league baseball but felt he was destined to a higher purpose. With his great love for his country, he joined the United States Air Force to obtain his higher education and pursue his interest in aviation. During his time in the Air Force, Charlie completed his pilots training as well as achieving a MBA from Ohio State University. During his nearly 30 years in the Air Force, Charlie served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War, flying a wide variety of aircraft. Most notably the C-5 Galaxy, the largest cargo plane in use by the U.S. Military at the time. Charlie earned the honor of Squadron Commander at Travis AFB. He was then promoted to Deputy Commander for Maintenance for Minuteman II Missiles in Great Falls MT. It was during this time he met the woman he would love and adore for the rest of his life. After marrying Cynthia he accepted the position of Center Manager for Flight Safety International, a position he held for the next two decades. Charlie is remembered as a selflessly devoted husband and father.

Following his retirement, Charlie continued his love of flying. Working as a private charter pilot as well as flying the Bonanza he shared with business partner and long time friend J.L. Regan. Other passions included traveling the world with his family. The last family trip, which he referred to as his "swan trip", was the return to Vietnam. Charlie had a special bond with his beloved dogs Alexandra, Bonnie and Clyde. Charlie was also an avid Wichita State Shockers fan, holding season tickets for many years for the Shocker baseball and basketball teams.

Charlie is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 37 years, Cindy; children David Geer, Leslie (Kent) Lawrence, Kimberly (Chris) Geer-Smith, Michelle Geer (Scott Blahauvietz); grandchildren James Geer, Claire Lawrence, Kent Lawrence, Baileigh Smith and Madalynn Smith.

A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held on Friday, January 17, 2020, at 2 p.m., Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel. Dignity Celebrant Cheryl Hoskins will officiate.

Burial will take place at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
