

79, passed away October 21, 2017. Charles received his GED and joined the Air Force at age 17. He served in Viet Nam as an Instrument Tech on the F105 planes. He retired after 20 years as a Tech Sergeant. Charles went to truck driving school and drove over the road for 25 years with his beloved companion Scotty. When he retired from trucking, he taught truck driving school and administered the CDL license tests to his students. Charles and Elizabeth lived in Decatur AL, for 8 years and he was a deacon in the Austinville Baptist Church. After returning to Wichita, they joined Tyler Road Southern Baptist Church. Early on he drove the church bus for the special needs members and was active in Vacation Bible School. He loved cars, car racing and motorcycles all his life. He bought and restored a 1935 Pontiac and purchased a 1949 Buick Road Master Survivor Car. Most Saturdays Charles could be found at the 81 Speedway or at a car show. Last year he organized the church's first antique car show. The show was a great success, he organized it again this year with Mr. Darwin. In his honor, the car show will be named after him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Sr. and Mary Lowe; son-in-law, Jeffrey Taylor; 4 brothers; 1 sister; and grandson, Charles Wayne Coen. Charles is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Lowe; son, Jeffrey Lowe; daughter, Teri Taylor; brother-in-law, Sherman (Marvinell) Lemmond; sisters-in-law, Janet "Sue" (Gary) Smith and Maryanne Lowe; as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends. A celebration of life service will be held at Tyler Road Southern Baptist Church on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 10:30 AM. Memorials may be made to the Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N.
