Donald E. Elston, age 92, passed away on Thursday May 20, 2021, at home. Don was born September 18th, 1928 in Kirksville, MO. He was united in marriage to Phyllis F. Elston, who survives him, on December 22nd, 1984, after the death of his wife Arlene C. Elston, who passed at age 47. Don is also survived by his son, Michael J. Elston, 67. After many different jobs in his youth, Don spent over 30 years as a materials inspector for the City of Wichita, and served the City as a chemist and engineer, even without a college education. He also served in the United States Air Force, primarily as an air traffic control operator during the Korean War. Visitation will be held Monday, March 24 from 11-1pm at Ascension Lutheran Church with a memorial service to follow at 1pm at Ascension Lutheran Church, 842 Tyler Rd., Wichita KS 67212. There will be no graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 200 Maryland Ave. N.E., Washington, D.C. 20002.
