On Friday December 4th, 2020, Don Foster, loving husband of 3 children and many grandkids, passed away with his wife of sixty two years, Velma, at his side. His sixteen year battle with Parkinsons was over, Don was 85.
Don was born on January 8th, 1935 in Lincoln Nebraska. At a very early age, Don joined the Navy for four years. After his leaving the Navy, Don worked as Postal Carrier before joining his true calling, which was the Wichita Fire Department. Don was a fire fighter for over twenty years and saved countless lives. Don ascended to the rank of Captain before retiring. Don always loved to travel and seeing new places. After he retired, Don developed a love for bicycling. He rode halfway across the United States twice by himself and rode across Kansas several times with his wife. Don’s outgoing personality and captivating story telling skills, enabled him to make friends wherever he was. His loyalty and willingness to help someone in need were values that made him a good husband, father, grandfather, and friend. In the later years he was baptized and became an active member of the Woodland Lakes Nazarene Church. He was a devout follower and spent numerous hours volunteering his time helping the church.
Don was preceded in death by his father, Dale, his mother, Marion, his brother Danny, and his sister, Lois. He is survived by his wife Velma, his three children Kathy, Kim, Kevin, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and his brother Spencer.
