Your mother's service was just so "Doris", I could hear and see her in so much of it.  I knew Doris through our membership at East Heights, but I really formed a bond with her in recent years.  One day she
called and asked if I would play piano duets with her for a church program.  I was honored by this and quickly agreed.  This led to other rehearsals and performances over the years. John, I want to thank you for the DVDs you created.  I cherished them right away, but now they have double the meaning for me.  I will miss our music making, our "world changing discussions" and her wonderful personality.  Karen Richards

Mrs. Nyberg was that sort of person who made you feel welcome, no matter who you were, or if you were new to the church or a long-time member.  I will treasure the time I would see her in chapel, always smiling and always willling to share good news. Her passing is a loss to all, including her dear family.

Mrs. Godwin-Nyberg was a special Caring lady.  I first met her in 1951  when I was accepted as   a young Student Nurse at Wesley.  My condolences to the Family and the Wesley Nursing Community.

I am so sorry to hear about Doris.  Doris and I worked together many years including the years we were both in the Dept of Education.  I'll always remember her as a positive person, with a quick smile.   My thoughts are with all of you during this time.

My deepest condolences to all of you and your families in the loss of your mother. Although I didn't have the opportuity to visit with her often, she was always someone I wanted to spend some time with at Godwin reunions. She was such a kind lady. Your parents were wonderful people, and I know you will treasure your memories of them and their love for you. May God hold you near.

I am so sorry for your loss.  Doris was one of my nursing instructors at Wesley and we became re-acquainted thru the Wesley School of Nursing Alumnae Association.  She was a very kind and loving person, who has left all of us with many wonderful memories.

Doris was always quiet, but strong.  As a young, newly diagnosed diabetic (and a gradeschool friend of Ruth's, who lived just a couple of blocks away) I remember having trouble finding enough fat to inject my insulin in my stomach, and so I walked to Ruth's Mom's house and asked her my question.  She patiently and matter-of-factly helped me learn to give my insulin in the stomach.  Her quietness always inspired confidence in her judgement, for me, and I never found that confidence misplaced.  I am one of many who will miss her quiet confidence and helpfulness. I feel fortunate to have known her.

It has been a pleasure to know Doris.  She was so good to help us newcomers in UMW at East Heights.  She always wrote kind notes and remembered everyone with praise and kindness.  She played the piano beautifully.  She touched so many lives and she will be missed greatly.  My deepest sympathy to the family.

Dear Ruth and Family, Since our moms worked together in Carter School PTA in the early 1960's, they have appreciated each other and been friends.  Their other-directedness made them kindred spirits.  Because of her macular degeneration, Mom (M.J. Cress) can't write this herself, but she wants you to know that she thought your mother was a TRULY GOOD PERSON.  We both send you our sympathy and prayers!

What wonderful memories we have of family reunions with Doris' bright smile and enthusiasm..and her beautiful mothering and grandmothering ...her genuine pride in her children and grandchildren. Brad/Ruth/Sarah and families.  So very sorry to hear about your mom's death.  WE and you have lost a truly special women.  I learned so much from her, working with her in UMW and WSNAA. Hi Sarah, Ruth and all. I'm so sorry about your mom. She was always one of my most favorite people. There just isn't any one any nicer, kinder, more helpful around. I met your mom during Nurse Assistant class in May, 1967. She and Mike's mom tried to make me the best I could be --- and succeeded! I'm really going to miss her. Doris, You will be missed so much by your Sisters in Church Women United both in the Wichita CWU Unit and by your Sister in Kansas State CWU. You were dedicated to our movement and always delighted us with your music at our Celebrations! I know how much she loves you, and how much she loves many friends because she was one of the kindest and most thoughtful people I have ever known.
