

Wittmer, Duane Dean, 89, entered the gates of heaven on Easter Sunday April 5, 2015 in Colorado Springs, CO. Duane was born on April 29, 1925 in Wayland, Iowa, the son of Ezra and Nellie (Davison) Wittmer. He married Janet Price (Davis) of Montclair, NJ in 1949, who preceded him in death on June 24, 1973. He then married Norma Allen on Sept. 28, 1974. Duane was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps – 100th Infantry Division. He taught commercial art at Oklahoma A & M School of Technical Training in Okmulgee, OK and then retired from Beech Aircraft in Wichita after 37 years as an Illustrator/Designer. He was a member of Hyde Park United Methodist Church where he sang in the church choir, and later attended Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Wichita. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, wife Janet, two brothers and one sister. Those who remain are his loving wife Norma, children Mary (Kevin) Elliott, Phil (Gloria) Wittmer, step-children, Mike (Trish) Allen and Dana (Richard) McLaren, 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday April 17, 2015 from 6 to 8pm. Funeral services are on Saturday April 18, 2015 at 10am, both at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th St. N., Wichita. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery with military honors.
