age 69, of Wichita, Kansas passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021. Ed was born on April 5, 1952 in Kingman, Kansas to Andy & Bea Gerstenkorn.
He attended St. Louis Catholic school and graduated from Kingman highschool in 1970. Later he attended Wichita State University before beginning his career in retail. He worked at David's Discount Stores, Trio Jewelry and then after working for Sheplers Western Wear for 33 years he retired in 2016.
Ed met the love of his life Jeanne in 1983 and married in 1985. They loved traveling and antiquing together. Ed enjoyed taking photographs, especially of nature. Ed also loved WSU basketball, gardening, playing with their dog Cassie and most of all his family.
Ed was a founding member of the Sunrise Rotary Club where he was involved with the community and helped give back to children through mentoring and building the Boundless Playground at Sedgwick County Park. He was also a member of the City Arts photography club.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves to cherish his memories wife Jeanne of 36 years; children, Shawn (Chasiti) Gerstenkorn, Heather (Bruce) Ballard; grandchildren Sidney and Sadie Gerstenkorn; furbaby Cassie; siblings Mary Ann (Rich) Buteau, Mike (Kim) Gerstenkorn, and Monica (Bert) Purcell and many nieces & nephews.
A recitation of rosary for (Ed) will be held Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 7:00 PM at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209. A mass of christian burial will occur Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Louis Catholic Church, 13015 E. Maple Grove, Waterloo, KS 67118. A graveside service will occur Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Waterloo Cemetery, North State Rd 17, Murdock, KS 67111.
