It is with profound sorrow and reverence that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ella Grace Veazey, who journeyed peacefully to her Heavenly Father on October 25, 2024. Born on September 19,1949 in Yazoo City, MS to Corrine Patsy Ross and Amos Levell Leach Sr., she enriched our lives with her infinite love, wisdom, and kindness.
Grace was a true disciple of Jesus Christ, putting her faith in Him as the foundation of her life to guide her through life’s trials and triumphs; allowing him to light up her pathway with hope and endurance. She exemplified His teachings throughout her life with unwavering acts of service, kindness, love and compassion. She often shared the love of Jesus with those around her, reminding us that we are all part of a greater purpose.
She pursued the purpose God gave to her on earth as a dedicated Pastor’s wife and cafeteria manager. Grace loved to cook, sew, clean, and be surrounded by her family, friends, church family, and coworkers. Her infectious smile, love, laughter, wisdom, and generosity exalted those who met her. After meeting her, you walked away knowing that you were loved, cherished, a masterpiece of the Most High.
As a devoted mother to daughter, Melissa Pinter; son, Bobby (Jamie) Smith; daughter, Tara (Joshua) Sherman; son, Carl Veazey; daughter-in-law, Lisa Veazey; and a proud grandmother to Kirstie, Cody, and Colton Pinter, Cody Hembree, Dustin, Seth, and Ethan Smith, Luke Sherman, Trey (Jessica) Veazey, Joy Veazey and Ben (Kayla) Veazey, Brittany Veazey; her sisters Linda Warrington, Barbara Spiars, Patricia (Stacey) Cranston, and Eva Bourgeois; brothers Albert (Margaret) Turner, Larry (Alice) Druery, and Wesley Leach, she found her greatest joy in servitude to Jesus Christ and with her family, where her laughter and stories would fill the room. Her love was a reflection of God’s grace. She instilled in us the importance of prayer and the beauty of a life lived in service to others. Her spirit will forever be intertwined into the fabric of our lives. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years Terrell Veazey Sr.; parents Corrine Ross and Amos Leach Sr., her brothers Amos Leach Jr. and Keith Leach; sisters Gladys Greer, Dorothy Fuller, Carolyn Humphreys; grandson Shannon Blake Kirk.
Rest in peace, dear Momma. Your faith and love will forever inspire us, and we take comfort in knowing you are embraced by the arms of Jesus, shining brightly in His presence.
Visitation will be Friday, November 1 from 9-10 a.m. at Lakeview Funeral Home. A chapel service will be at the same location on Friday at 10 a.m., with burial to follow at Lakeview Cemetery in the Garden of Prayer.
“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” — Proverbs 31:25-31
