Born May 21, 1920 to Arthur Clyde (A.C.) Williams, a Preacher born in KS, and Mayme Melvina Kilpatrick, a mother and homemaker born in TN, he grew up with brothers Bill and Don, and sister Bonnie Lee.
Wayne joined the U.S. Army Air Corps, Airforce, entering service on April 13, 1944. He was stationed at Victorville Army Airfield in Victorville, CA in Cessna’s Dept. 53. Wayne served as a Corporal in the Air Corps during World War II, and was honorably discharged from his service November 25, 1945. Wayne was an avid photographer and used his abilities in war time and even had his own photography studio after the war. Wayne continued his work for Cessna in Wichita once he returned from serving in the Airforce.
He found success as an independent Realtor, Builder, and Developer in Wichita, KS and Shell Knob, MO, growing his business and creating a wide network of friends, peers, and colleagues across the states. Wayne put his passion for networking with people into his marketing and sales business with the Xango Company, now Xija, selling juices and health products.
Wayne was an active member of the Church of Christ, serving as a member with the Elypco, Northside, and Shell Knob Churches of Christ. He was a consummate church leader, leading in song, work with youth, and outreach. Wayne was so passionate about sharing the Lord’s Word, he helped to create Northside Church of Christ’s Know Your Bible television program in Wichita, KS. Wayne was inspired to create the program in 1981 after viewing a similar program in San Diego, and with huge support from Northside COC members the program aired on KSN in 1986.
Wayne was also inspired to share his personal life story and outlook with anyone who would listen. He wrote a book, titled “I Choose Happy”, which was in the process of being published upon his death. Family and friends will continue to publish the book in his memory.
Most important to Wayne, however, was his family. Wayne had 5 children, 7 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Wayne married the love of his life, Roseana “Rosie” Jane Page on July 5, 1942. Together they built a beautiful family, adopting their 5 children Richard, Pennie, their neice Lana, Robert, and Polly over the course of several years. We are at peace knowing Wayne has been reunited with his beloved Rosie, Richard, and Robert in Heaven.
Wayne is survived by a large family, including daughter Pennie Kennedy, grandchildren Scott Perry (Tamara Perry), Jason Kennedy, and Amber Medrano (Johnnie Medrano), great grandchildren Bri and Emily Perry, and Brenna and Bella Medrano; niece Lana Farmer and her husband Steve Farmer; daughter Polly Shortt (Noel Shortt), grandchildren Linda Anguiano (John Anguiano) and Noella Shortt, great grandchildren Dominic, Elias, and Roman Anguiano and Kamerynn and Khryztian Shortt. Wayne’s son Robert “Bobby” Williams passed away February 14, 1995, and is survived by his widow Diane Williams, and granddaughter Amy Williams. Wayne’s son Richard “Dick” Williams, MD passed away May 28, 2010, and is survived by his widow Beverly Williams, grandchild Wendy Ellis (Geoff Ellis), and great grandchildren Kenzie and Tate Ellis.
