

Evelyn L. Gardner, beloved mother, grandmother, and devoted woman of faith, passed into the loving arms of her Savior on January 31, 2026 at the age of 97. Born in 1928 to Henry and Florence Martin Heubach,
Evelyn grew up in a close‑knit family rooted in strong values and Christian faith. She graduated from Valley Center High School in 1946, beginning a life marked by dedication, service, and love.
In time, Evelyn married the love of her life, David C. Gardner, with whom she shared a deep and enduring partnership until his passing. Together they built a home grounded in kindness, faith, and unwavering care for their family. Evelyn accepted Christ as her Savior in 1953, a commitment that shaped her life and guided her gentle spirit for more than seven decades. She was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church in Wichita, Kansas, where she worshipped, served, and built lifelong friendships.
Evelyn’s greatest joy and calling was her role as a wife, mother, and “Mama.”
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Lori Geiger; son, Stephen Gardner; grandchildren, Jennie Migliarese, Erin Poston, Melanie Gardner, Melissa Woodburn, David Gardner; great‑grandchildren, Jacob Poston, Dustin Migliarese, Stella Tyler, Lola Poston, Lucas Landers, Reece Winder, Cheyenne Gardner; great‑great‑grandchild, Charlie Aljada; and her sister, Wanita Brooks.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, David C. Gardner; her parents, Henry and Florence Heubach; her brothers, Melvin and Marvin Heubach; sisters, Eleanor Kehl and Elma Connet.
Those who knew Evelyn will remember her for her faithfulness, her gentle heart, and the deep love she poured into her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives of her children, grandchildren, great‑grandchildren, and great‑great‑grandchild, all of whom carry forward the warmth and strength she embodied so beautifully.
A memorial service for Evelyn will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, February 14th, at Hope Church, 2000 S. Hillside, Wichita, Kansas 67211.
