

Gary moved with his family at a young age to California. He loved animals and had a horse at that time named Cochise. He won several awards in his younger years with Barrel Racing. At age 18 he couldn’t find a job, so he enlisted into the Army. He survived two tours in Vietnam and studied law for a short time while enlisted. Gary retired after almost 21 years of service. In between and after the Army, he worked in roofing as well as in construction. After taking time off during the pandemic, he went back to work at The Golf Warehouse. His main love was fishing - anywhere. He also loved boating, hiking in the country, traveling by vehicle, and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Ruth Serl - Siblings; Lloyd (wife Sandra) Serl, Earnest Serl.
Gary is survived by his wife of 23 years, Debra Serl; children, Carrie (spouse Joe) Gillespie, Lisa (spouse Joe) Dickson, James (spouse Kim) Brown, Jason Housdon, Eugene (spouse Merrie) Housdon, and Renae Housdon (fiance Taylor Miller); grandchildren, Tanner, Alyssa, Gage, Savannah, Nolan, Ivy; siblings, Luella Johnson, Ramona Hoyt, Robert Serl, Sharon Serl; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
Funeral Service for Gary will occur 10:00 AM, Friday, August 30th, with visitation one hour prior at Lakeview Funeral Home. Military Funeral Honors and reception will take place after the service.
