Gary Lawrence Simpson, 65, passed away on February 24, 2026. Born July 8, 1960, Gary will be remembered as a loving, devoted father and grandfather, and as a caring friend who was always there to help someone in need.
Gary graduated from Wichita North High School.
He worked at Pye Barker Fire and Safety for 38 years, a long and faithful career that reflected his dependable and hardworking nature.
Gary’s interests reflected his energetic and hands-on spirit. He enjoyed running—5Ks, half marathons, and marathons—as well as NASCAR and trains. He was especially handy and loved tinkering, taking things apart and putting them back together, and fixing what needed repair.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Grover Simpson, and his mother, Myrtle ( Owens) Simpson.
He is survived by his sister, Deborah Simpson; his brother, Larry Simpson; his son, Michael Simpson (Megan); his daughter, Kelli Wright (Keaton); and his granddaughter, Aria Simpson.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209, on March 9, 2026, at 10:00 am.
