George met the love of his life, Ethel Haley in El Paso, Texas where he was stationed at Fort Bliss and she was teaching school. They married June 23, 1957 and moved to Lawrence, Kansas where George was attending KU. Shortly after the birth of their first child, Lenora, he received a Bachelors of Electrical Engineering at KU in 1958.
They moved to Wichita, Kansas where George worked as an Electrical Engineer at Boeing. In 1961, they welcomed their second child, Robert and 18 months later Tom was born.
George continued his education and received a Masters at Wichita State University. George also worked at Cessna and Beech following Boeing. While he was working at Beech he was elected Kansas State Representative of the 96th District where he served for 10 years. He was also active in IEEE and was able to travel with Ethel to Europe and many other places.
He enjoyed jogging, watching college sports and researching his Genealogy. George and Ethel visited every state capital in The United States.
George is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ethel Dean; his daughter, Lenora (Lynn) Myers; his sons, Robert (Maura) Dean and Tom (Peggy) Dean; his grandsons: Joshua, Matthew, Griffin, Spencer Dean and William Stanley; his great-grandson, Jack Dean.
A visitation with family present will be held Thursday, January 29, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Hwy 54, Wichita, Kansas.
A funeral service will occur Friday, January 30, 2026 at 10:00 AM with graveside to follow, both at Resthaven Mortuary and Gardens of Memory.
