Jacqueline “Jackie” Renee Mathilde (Gorez) Griffin was born on March 9th, 1944, in Laon, France, to René Casimir Edouard Gorez and Mathilde Ismérie Pierret. She peacefully joined her Lord and Savior on April 16th, 2025, at the age of 81 in Wichita.
Jackie’s journey began in France, where she was born and raised before making her way to the United States. She eventually settled in Topeka, Kansas, where she worked as a silk screener for Jostens. Jackie enjoyed sewing, quilting, and knitting in her free time. She also loved watching television: Fox News with Tucker Carlson, Judge Judy, Days of Our Lives, The Young and the Restless, and her favorite, Bonanza. Though she embraced her life in America, the memory of France’s blooming flowers in May always held a special place in her heart.
Dancing and bowling were among her favorite activities in her youth, which might have helped when she met her late husband, Kenneth J. Griffin, while he was stationed in France. They married on June 13th, 1966, and were later blessed with three children: Nelly, Kenneth Jr. & Lance.
Proud of her full French heritage and was often heard saying, "C'est la vie" (That's Life! or That's how it is!). She shared her love for those around her, and her legendary strawberry cake was impossible to resist.
Reunited with those who have gone before: her beloved husband, Kenneth J. Griffin and son, Kenneth J. Griffin Jr.
Jackie leaves behind cherished memories with: Nelly (Phillip) Ridgway (Alex, Ben, and Ann); Lance (Theresa) Griffin (Kellie (Wyatt), Ryan, and Tyler); sister-in-law, Penny (Richard) Puff (Scott and Jason); sister-in-law Brenda (Larry) Miller (Nicholas and Noel). She is also survived by Sandy Schroeder.
