I was cleaning out paperwork and ran across an evaluation that you did on me. It was great. You said very nice things about me. I also ran across the letter you wrote back in 1998 to help me join the Society of Women Engineers. Chris Cathcart wanted me to join the group even though I wasn't an engineer, I just hired them. She asked you to write a letter and you told her you didn't know what to say so she wrote it for you and told you to sign it. But you added a few words of your own which were very sweet. I think of Jimmie often. I have a couple hospices patients I see every week at Glen Carr care facility. I think of Jimmie and. Greta every time I am there.

Jimmie was my first manager at Boeing. He hired me in 1978 and we worked together for close to 15 years.  My favorite memory was when I was shipped to Edwards Air Force Base, Lancaster, CA. They needed someone immediately to work in Human Resources so I volunteered to go since I was the only one in my group who wasn't married. I was out there for about 3 1/2 months. When I got back to Wichita I went into Jimmie's office to tell him I was back. He told me to come in and close the door. I thought that probably the director at Boeing in CA had probably complained to Jimmie about me because the director and I didn't get along. Nope that wasn't it. Jimmie had tears in his eyes and gave me a big hug and said he was so glad I was back. I felt very welcomed.  Deana Fitzsimmons

I met Jimmie and his beautiful wife Greta five years ago when they both resided at Glen Carr House.  After Greta's death, my family and I continued to spend time with Jim.  He was always interested in what my four children were doing at school and in extracurricular activities and they considered him as a "Grandpa."  A generous man, he truly cared for others.  He and I went on many "adventures" around Derby.  I am truly blessed that I was given the opportunity to know Jimmie.  He will be greatly missed!

I met Jimmie when I went to work in HR at Boeing in the early 1980’s. He was my first boss in the HR organization. He was such a gentleman and a delight. The last time I saw him was at Kathy’s retirement party and I was so excited when he knew exactly who I was. He was one on those special people that you always have fond memories of. Rest in piece Jimmie and enjoy your reunion with Greta. 

Jimmie and I were friends for 41 years. We worked together at Boeing in HR (Human Resources) for several years. I have many fond memories of us working state long jump events, snow skiing at Cooper Mountain, fishing trips in the West Mineral strip pits where Jimmie grew up and numerous other trips helping Jim and Greta collect linens, cut glass, walking sticks and Wayne Willis outdoor wildlife pictures. I am going to miss him calling me “sport” and the many adventures we shared together. Thank you Jimmie for all the fun times we had.   

I met Jimmie as a volunteer with Ks Dept of Aging in August of 2010.  He shared the memories of his travels with his wife Greta.  I gained a wealth of knowledge learning about their many collections.  Among them were antique linens, coins, American cut glass, marbles, and carved walking sticks.  When he made the decision to sell his home so he could live with Greta in the care facility, I was no longer a volunteer but, we remained friends. He now resides with the love of his life. You won’t be forgotten.    Jane King

Jimmie was such a wonderful person. I have many fond memories of he and Greta. I am sure they are having a wonderful reunion.
