Joseph A. Methe, 98, went home peacefully to his Lord on January 27, 2026. He was born in November, 1927, in rural Nebraska, to Joseph E. and Eva Methe, from Quebec, Canada. He was one of eleven children in a loving family. During the Korean War, Joseph served in the United States Air Force as a fighter jet maintenance and operation instructor. In 1951, Joseph married Detta Gustafson, for whom he was a loving and devoted husband until her passing.
After military service, he enjoyed a distinguished aviation career with Boeing and Learjet. He was an active and devoted member of Glenn Park Christian Church, where he faithfully taught Bible classes for many years, sharing his love of scripture and faith with others.
Joseph is survived by his children: Brian (Marie) Methe, Rene (Tim) Stringer, Lisa (Jon) Van Dusen, and Jeff (Shellee) Methe; grandchildren: Kristin (Josh) Hartman, John Methe, Nathan Stringer, Sarah Stringer, Michelle Methe, Paul Methe, and Lauren Merrifield; great-grandchildren: Evelyn, Adelaide, Judah, Josiah, Myla, Addilynn, Hunter, and Ava; and his brother, Eugene. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Detta Methe; his parents, Joseph E. and Eva Methe; and his siblings: Loretta, Mary Agnes, Ernest, Leo, Vincent, Albert, Jerome, Louis, and Armand.
A celebration of Joseph's life will be held at Resthaven Mortuary and Gardens of Memory at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 7, 2026, followed by a meal. All are welcome.
