Juanita V. Palomino, age 65, retired Registered Nurse at Ascension (St. Francis) Via Christi, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022. Juanita was born January 13, 1957 in Eureka, Kansas, the daughter of Juan and Armandina (Vela) Rubalcaba.
In 1959 the family moved to the Wichita area. Growing up her parents took her to church every Sunday and Catechism at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Juanita attended Wichita Public Schools until the end of middle school. She was a graduate of Bishop Carroll in 1975. While in high school, Juanita volunteered as a Candy Striper at St. Francis Hospital. After high school graduation, she received her Bachelor of Science between attending both Newman University and Wichita State University.
On September 1, 1984, she married Valente Palomino at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, where she was a Eucharistic Minister. Juanita and Valente continued the tradition of raising their family in a Christian home, attending St. Jude Catholic Church, where she continued her stewardship as a Lector and through volunteering for various parish functions and events.
After retirement from St. Francis in 2003, Juanita continued her stewardship at St. Jude as a Cheer Sponsor for her daughter and for her son she organized Friday dinners for the Bishop Carroll football team.
Throughout her life, Juanita met many people as she worked in the community by helping others attain housing. She was also an avid sports fan for WSU Shockers Basketball and Chiefs football. She loved animals and enjoyed the fine arts, music, and travelling and visited many countries with her family including a trip to Rome, Italy where she saw Pope John Paul II.
Juanita was kind to everyone she met. She loved her family dearly and lived her life to the fullest.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Jose Adrian Rubalcaba.
Survivors include her husband, Valente; children, Valentino and Erica; brother, Guadalupe Rubalcaba; and numerous God Children and family members.
Visitation with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Hwy 54, Wichita. Rosary will precede the funeral mass at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 12, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 3030 N. Amidon Avenue, Wichita, KS 67204. Graveside will follow immediately at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
