Katie T. Franz

Franz, Katie, 102, passed away September 28, 2011. Katie was born September 8, 1909 in Colony, Oklahoma, to John H. and Katharina (Neufeldt) Thiessen. Katie married Jake Franz on New Year’s Day, 1931. They lived on a farm near Corn Oklahoma, with their 2 sons, Loren Joe and Jimmie Howard. Katie was preceded in death by her infant son Jimmie, her husband Jake, her son Loren and his wife, Doris; brothers, Alvin, John, Edward, Peter and Herbert; and parents, John and Katharina Thiessen. She is survived by her sisters, Selma Loewen, of Garden City, Bertha Flaming, of Corn, Oklahoma and Lydia Oringderff, of Liberal; her grandchildren, Debbie and Merrill Miller, of Spokane, Washington, Lindell and Terri Franz, of Wichita; great-grandchildren, Luke Franz of Chicago; Lindsey (Al) Willis, of Springfield, Missouri; Allegra, Stacey, and Natalie Miller, of Spokane, Washington and her great-great granddaughter Kherington Grace Willis of Springfield, Missouri. Memorials may be made to the 1st Mennonite Brethren Church Harvest Project. Viewing at Resthaven Mortuary from 12-8 on Monday, October 3 with family receiving from 6-7. Graveside service will be held at Resthaven Cemetery at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 4, 2011 followed by a Memorial service at 11:00 at First Mennonite Brethren Church.
