

Keith was born on July 16, 1950 to Harold A. and Kathryn M. (Knutson) Martin in Fort Dodge, IA and grew up in Grand Island, NE. He attended Kearney State College, The University of Nebraska Lincoln, and St. Louis University where he graduated with a BS in Sociology. He attended The University of Nebraska School of Law where he was a Law Review member. Upon graduation in 1976, Keith accepted a position with the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office. In 1978, he joined the firm of Smith, Shay, Farmer & Wetta where he practiced law for nearly 44 years.
Keith met his wife, Susan Dee Winston of McCook, NE at Kearney State in August of 1969. They were married June 4, 1971 and recently celebrated 51 years of marriage. He was a kind, good, and generous man who loved his family, church, and friends. He worked long and hard hours taking care of his clients and helping others. His interests included beekeeping, studying Spanish, playing bridge, old tractors and farm equipment, Nebraska football, and of course, his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Susan, sons Andrew (Colette) of Omaha, NE and Samuel (Lindsay) of Berlin, Germany. They were blessed with granddaughters Adeline, Scarlet, Evelyn and Hazel of Omaha who were the apples of Keith’s eye and had him wrapped around their little fingers from birth. Another granddaughter is expected in November and Keith will be watching over her from Heaven.
Siblings include Kathy Mainelli (Mike) of Omaha, NE, Kurt (Sherry) of Omaha, NE, and Kent (Marcy) of Arlington, NE, his three sister-in-laws Jacque Osborn of Minneapolis, MN, Peggy Bacca of Gillette, WY, and Lisa Felker of McCook, NE, their families, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Keith was a good and faithful servant and will be truly missed. A memorial service will be held at Reformation Lutheran Church, 7601 East 13th Street at 11am on Wednesday, July 27. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Reformation Lutheran Church.
