Marietta Louise (LeClair) Factor, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 in Wichita, Kansas. She was born October 23, 1941 in Kaw City, Oklahoma to the late William and Lena (Warneke) LeClair.
Being the caring person she was, Marietta set her sights on helping others when young as she sought a nursing degree from St. Mary of the Plains College, where she held a 4.0 GPA while working and supporting a family before graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. With diploma in hand, she spent 37 years in nursing with most of those years working in the neonatal intensive care unit as a registered nurse. A fulfilling career that not only rewarded her soul, but also left a piece of her with the many she cared for over the years.
When not serving those through her work, she served the Lord in many other capacities. She was a valued member of First Baptist Church of Mulvane, KS, was on the nonprofit board for GraceMed Development as President for many years, belonged to The Garden Club, the Red Hat Society and Bingo Club. Not to mention delivering Meals on Wheels and supporting the Youth Core Ministry. Her faith touched many and will be carried forward by those she served so generously. Marietta was a Kaw tribal member of the Kaw Nation of Oklahoma. She enjoyed going to pow-wows and was very proud of her heritage.
Though much of her life was spent serving, there was no shortage of family time. Family is where her heart was as she raised her children: Teresa, Ed, Morgan, Terry, Michelle, and Tony and just when she thought her heart was at its fullest, these children blessed her with many grand, great, and great-great-grandchildren.
With the new additions of grand and great-grandchildren came more time for family get-togethers, attending any of their many activities, as well as she made time for friends, going out to eat at her favorite places, and meeting others at the senior center for activities or lunch.
Marietta lived a full and rewarding life and joins those who have passed before: her parents, William and Lena, and grandson, Justan Smith. Those left to carry her on her legacy include her children: Teresa (Alan) Carroll, Ed (Dana) Smith, Morgan (Nancy) Smith, Terry (Kriss) Smith, Michelle Gordon, Tony (Deborah) Factor; brother, Ed (Kathy) LeClair; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
A visitation for Marietta will be held Monday, March 11, 2024 from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Mulvane, 1020 N 2nd Ave, Mulvane, KS 67110, followed by a funeral service at 1:00PM and burial to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Garden of Acacia Lawn, Lot 37A, Space 3; 11800 West Kellogg, Wichita, Kansas, 67209.
