Armstrong, Mildred Ilene (Bowers), 88, retired McConnell Air Force Base food service supervisor, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, January 17th, 2015. Mildred was born May 16th, 1926 in Ford, KS to Edith and Perry Bowers. On April 2nd, 1946, she eloped with her lifelong love, Leonard E. Armstrong and married in Ashland, KS, returning to Seiling, OK to begin their 56 years together. Survivors: son, Robert E. Armstrong of Wichita, daughters, Billie M. Barnard of Wichita and Veletta I. (Gale) Autry of Warsaw, MO; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great granddaughters. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, George and Carrie Bowers; and a grandson, Danny. Visitation with family will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, both at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Hwy 54, Wichita, KS. Interment will follow at Resthaven’s Garden of Love.
