Oliver Thomas Wilson, Born November 30th, 1978 passed away Tuesday January 25th, 2022, age 43. Oliver was born into this world to his parents David and Donna Wilson in Wichita, KS. Born an instant Mama & Daddy’s boy and spoiled baby “Bubby” to his older sister Traci Renee. Growing up Oliver loved going to the cabin where he and his sister would catch crawdads, sleep on their dock under the stars, play hide-n-seek and fishing for all hours of the night! Oliver loved playing baseball, fishing and hunting. Oliver simply loved the outdoors. Oliver also loved hanging out with his many cousins being silly.
As a teen, Oliver’s 1st love was his Dads Ford truck “Big Red” followed by Big Red 2. Oliver drove these trucks while attending North High School, where he graduated in 1997. Throughout his life, Oliver was also very fond of his dogs; from his crazy bird dog Bo to his dog Jake, and recently taking care of his late Grandmas dog Bubba. As a young adult Oliver found his love of horses! Oliver would ride his horses out on his farm in Andale. Oliver was a city kid that loved the country, the farm in Andale proved that.
Oliver was named after both his Great Grandpa’s, so his name had very special meaning; however, over the years Oliver had several nicknames; Bubby, Bub, OT, O’Thomas, Big O, and Bongie-head. The one nickname you did NOT call him was Ollie, his mom made sure of that!
The best nickname he loved was “Uncle”, not Uncle Oliver or Uncle O, he was “Uncle”. Oliver loved caring for (and tormenting at times) his niece Alexis, especially when she was little. Oliver just knew Alexis was going to be a boy, so he nicknamed her Skeeter and even decorated her nursery in Lion King. When Oliver’s nephew Aaron was born he had an instant love and bonded with him over everything outdoors, from playing ball together to shooting BB guns. Aaron for sure inherited some of his silliness from “Uncle”.
By trade Oliver did electrical work. Oliver was creative, artistic and always the tinkering type. Oliver recently took up the craft of artistry wood burning.
Oliver’s heart was very big, (even bigger than his ears 😊) and his laugh was infectious. Oliver was especially sentimental and would keep every keepsake as a treasure. Oliver’s true treasures were his 3 sons; Stephen David, Oliver Thomas, and Oryan James. Oliver enjoyed the time he had with each of his sons. While they may not remember him, they should always take strength and comfort in knowing he truly loved them very deeply. Oliver could only show his love to his sons the best way he was capable of while he was with them here on earth; yet, he passed away loving them eternally.
"No temptation has overtaken you, except what is common to man. God is faithful and He will not let you be tempted above what you are able. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way of escape that you may be able to bear it." 1 Corinthians 10:13
Oliver could light up the room with his charm, smile, wit and sense of humor even while struggling with his demons. While faced with adversity in his adult life, Oliver was very courageous battling his addiction, fighting for recovery one day at a time. The chains that bound him were stronger than anything he could do on his own. Oliver fought this battle for years, and truly sought God's help during the struggle. He knew Jesus Christ as his Savior, and in the end, it was He who finally decided Oliver struggled enough and brought him home. Oliver now has the peace he so desperately searched for here on earth. Oliver was loved by many who will continue to cherish the time and memories they shared with him. It will be through these stories and memories that his sons should grow up one day knowing what a wonderful, loving and big-hearted man their father once was.
Oliver was received into heaven by his older sister Kelly Ann, his Grandparents: Beverly Heath, Lilly and Ottis Wilson and by his Uncle Darrell Wilson. Oliver leaves behind his 3 sons; Stephen David, Oliver Thomas, and O'ryin James, Parents; Donna and David Wilson, his sister Traci Renee and her husband Patrick Terrill and their children Alexis R. Terrill and Aaron W. Terrill. Oliver will also be remembered by his Aunt Janice and Uncle Jack Duvall, Aunt Meme Shaffer, Uncle Frank and Aunt Carolyn Heath and many Great Aunts, Great Uncles and Cousins.
