Opal Helen (Meme) Lane, 86, left this life peacefully to be with her Lord on January 20, 2023. Helen was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a fierce prayer warrior in the Christian faith for 65 years. She loved serving and caring for others through various ministries at her church of the last 50 years, Westside Nazarene.
Born on April 21, 1936 in Childress, TX, Helen was preceded in death by her father and mother Robert O. Cook and Pearl B. (O’Daniel) Cook, and brothers Bob Cook and Gerald Cook. She is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years Joe Lane, brother Billy Ray Cook, sister Donna (Cook) Etheridge, sons Randy Lane and Dale Lane, grandchildren Sierra and Anthony Llanos, Levi Lane, Zach Lane, Bekah Lane, Lexi Lane, and great-grandchildren Isla, Kaleb, Gunnar, and Brea. She also leaves a host of extended family and loved ones who knew her as a caring friend.
In her memory, anyone so inclined is encouraged to “pay it forward” for someone else in need.
A visitation for Opal will be held Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209. A funeral service will occur Friday, January 27, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Westside Church of the Nazarene, 2300 S. Seneca, Wichita, KS 67213 with a graveside service immediately following at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209.
