Ronald Lewis Conkle, 88, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center in Wichita. He was born February 17, 1936 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Harry L. and Alice Bernadine (Lake) Conkle.
Ron attended Wichita East High School in Wichita, Kansas. Ron served in the United States Navy from 1952 for where he served honorably and proudly for 20 years as a Equipment Operator in the Sea Bees, then retired in 1972 at the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Upon retirement from the Navy, he went to work at the United States Postal Service as a mail handler for 22 years.
Ron was united in marriage to Nina Ruth Conley on July 31, 1977 in Wichita, where they shared 47 years of marriage. During his free time, he enjoyed his antique cars, as well as serving as President over two different car clubs in Wichita. One of Ron's passions was for his love of animals, but most important, his beloved wife, Nina.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, Harry and Bernadine; his loving wife, Nina; his sister, Vonda; and his brother, Terry.
He is survived by: his children, Craig Conkle, Thomas Bingham, and Kathy Bingham; his younger sister, Jeanine; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 11, 2025, with the Funeral Service following at 10:00 AM, both at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Wichita.
