In tandem with her husband Vernon, Rosa Lee worked tirelessly in their home and at Olivet Baptist Church to establish an environment of love and stability. Their example was inspirational to family and friends. She would cheerfully accept challenges at church and was instrumental in Vacation Bible Schools, Sunday School and youth group leaderships and Senior Bible Study officer positions. Above all, she never voiced fault with others, usually saying, “Maybe they’re just having a bad day.”
Rosa Lee was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 71 years, Vernon Smith; and 10 siblings.
She is survived by her sons, Daniel Smith and Allen (Karen) Smith; 11 grandchildren, Andrew, Timothy, Karalee, Kristina, Kayln, Kelly, Korielle, Kimberly, Kathleen, Kassandra, and Kandice; and 10 great grandchildren, Sebastian, Summer, Autumn, Winter, Elliana, Tytus, Ronan, Landon, Declan and Killian.
Visitation will be from 6:00PM to 8:00PM, Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209. Funeral service being held 2:00PM, Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Olivet Baptist Church, 3440 W. 13th Street N, Wichita, KS 67203, with interment following at Resthaven's cemetery in the Garden Of Gethsemane.
