

Russell Edward McLeod, born on March 16, 1956, in Clarinda, Iowa, passed away on December 13, 2025, at the age of 69. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, known for his dedication and passion throughout his life.
He attended Bedford High School. After completing his education, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving from June 22, 1973, to June 21, 1977. During his service, he was stationed at NAS Point Mugu in California as an Aircraft Mechanic, specializing in F-14s. He achieved the rank of E4 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal for his honorable service.
Following his military service, Russell pursued a career as an A&P Mechanic. He began his professional journey with American Airlines in 1979, later joining the Cessna Aircraft Company, where he worked for over 30 years. As the Crew Chief of the A&P mechanical crew, he specialized in Cessna Citation models.
On March 17, 1989, Russell married Catherine McLeod (Gaulin) in Wichita, Kansas. They shared 36 years of marriage, a union blessed with five children: Shannon McLeod, Dustin McLeod, Ryan McLeod, Renee Shumate, and Jessica McLeod. Russell cherished his role as a father and grandfather, enjoying time with his grandchildren: Xavier Garibaldi, Sully McLeod, Veda McLeod, Ayla Gates, Weston Gates, Camden Wagoner, Piper McLeod, Alexis Walker, Brianna Walker-Lindsey, and Warren McLeod.
Russell had a deep appreciation for anything mechanical, whether it was working on airplanes, boats, or cars. He loved watching movies, spending time with his family, and traveling. A collector of antiques, he also was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs.
He is preceded in death by his father, Warren McLeod, his mother, Dorothy John (McLeod), his brothers, Randy McLeod and Richard McLeod, his sister, Linda Sleep, his father-in-law, Phillip Gaulin, his mother-in-law, Joanne Consigli (Gaulin), and his grandchild, Kirkland McLeod.
He is survived by his loving wife, Catherine McLeod, his children, grandchildren, his brother Terry McLeod (MaLinda Higgins-McLeod), and his beloved pets, Princess, Max, and Sissy.
Russell Edward McLeod will be remembered for his warmth, dedication, and the love he shared with all who knew him. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
