Ruth Grace Zych

Ruth passed from this side of heaven to the next on April 3, 2026, at the age of 79. It was very fitting for a woman of her faith to pass on Good Friday. Ruth came into this world on November 8, 1946. She was born to the late William J. and Grace R. Smerz (Siemon). She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Zych, her brothers, William and Ronald, and multiple dogs who lived the best lives ever. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, and lived there until 1980, when she moved with her family to Overland Park, Kansas, and finally settled in Wichita, Kansas, after her husband passed. May she be with all those who went before her now.

The family would like to thank extended family, friends, the incredible staff at The Rushwood Senior Living Community, the impressive staff at Good Shepherd Hospice, and pastoral support from Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Your love is amazing and so appreciated.

Left to mourn her absence are her children: Jennifer (Michael) Davis, Joseph (Kelli) Zych, and Katherine (Dewayne) McAllister; grandchildren: Laurin Davis, Noah Davis, Kaitlyn Zych, Ryan Zych, Sean (Isabel) McAllister, Connor McAllister, and her loving dog Winnie.

Ruth’s Memorial Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church and School. She will be placed to rest with her husband at the Johnson County Memorial Gardens in Johnson County, Kansas.
