Ryan was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ralph Metzen, of Chanute, Kansas.
Ryan is survived by parents, Terry and Carolyn Messing, of Wichita Kansas; brother, Christopher Messing, of Plainfield Indiana; companion, Debbie White and son, Braxton Messing, both of Wichita, Kansas; grandparents, Lester and Vernida Messing, of Omaha, Nebraska, June Metzen, of Chanute, Kansas; uncles and aunts, Bruce and Betty Messing, Hebron, Nebraska, Scott and Mary Messing, Omaha, Nebraska, Brian and Patricia Metzen, Chanute, Kansas, Bruce Metzen of Chanute, Kansas, and Cathy Wilmont along with numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews.
Ryan was raised in Clearwater, Kansas, Hays, Kansas and Wichita, Kansas. Ryan graduated from Maize South High School, Maize, Kansas in 2012. Ryan enjoyed playing football for the Maize South Mavericks, t-ball to baseball from the time he could walk up through high school graduation. Ryan had a very kind giving spot in his heart and developed many friendships throughout his life. Ryan would give the shirt off of his back to help his friends. Ryan dreamed of becoming a counselor and during his life seemed to always counsel his friends on girlfriend issues through high school and afterwards. Ryan enjoyed going to the family farm in Nebraska staying with his grandparents throughout many summers growing up. Ryan enjoyed going to Branson Missouri on vacations with his family and friends; going to Silver Dollar City, boating down Lake Taneycomo and about sinking a pontoon boat one year when he and 4 friends decided to all go to the bow of the boat while traveling down the river. Ryan enjoyed Anime movies, target shooting, and spending time with his son, Braxton. Braxton was born to Ryan and Debbie White on June 21, 2020. This was a special day for Ryan considering it was Father's Day. Ryan took great pride in his son and had so much fun making Braxton giggle and learning how to put a diaper on him. Ryan also enjoyed his German Shepard, Sam, that he adopted from the Kansas Humane Society. Sam was not on the good list at the humane society and Sam would never seem to let Ryan out of his sight because they had a special bond no one could describe. Sam always knew when Ryan came home before anyone else did.
Ryan worked at Sedgwick County Zoo, Johnsons Garden Center, Pizza Hut, and Appearance Group. Ryan always dreamed of getting into some professional career helping other people counseling them and trying to help with personal issues.
Ryan will truly be missed and was deeply loved by Debbie White, his parents, his brother among many friends and other family members. Ryan was known for his smile and the kindness in his heart he had for friends and family. We trust Ryan is resting in peace with the Lord Jesus Christ having fun with his childhood dog, Oscar. Ryan was a very special son, and brother. He touched many friends, coaches and teachers hearts and if he smiled there was no way to get upset with him. He truly had a Heart of Gold!!
