Sara Penner

Sara Elizabeth Penner, age 38, passed away on Thursday, October 14th, 2021. Sara was born April 2nd, 1983 to Larry Albert Fox and Marcia Marie (Mee) Fox in Garden City, Kansas. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed by everyone whose life she touched.

Sara graduated from Hayden High School in Topeka in 2001 where she was an accomplished dancer and actress. She graduated from KU with a degree in education and a masters degree in early childhood development. She relocated to Wichita in 2007 and taught elementary school. In 2018, she completed a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wichita State and became a school counselor at Lawrence Elementary in Wichita. In her years as a teacher and counselor, she helped hundreds of kids, encouraging them as they grew. Sara loved going to concerts, especially country music. She treasured playing with her daughters, taking them on everyday outings like going for lunch, shopping and salon time, and cuddling them at night. Sara was quick to smile and was always up for an adventure. Her favorite place was on the lake with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Albert and Lucille Fox and Lyndon and Marie Mee; and her mother-in-law, Marcia “Mimi” Penner.

Sara is survived by her parents, Larry and Marcia Fox; husband of 12 years, Nick Penner; daughters Madelynn Penner and Kenzie Penner; brother, Brian Fox; sister-in-law, Marjorie Lathrop; brother-in-law, Todd Penner; sister-in-law, Natalie Penner; father-in-law, Ray Penner; and nephews, Kaden Fox, Kaleb Fox, and Alexander Penner.

A visitation will be from 5:00PM to 7:00PM, Thursday, October 21st, at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209.

A Celebration of Life Service for Sara will be held at 11:00AM, Friday, October 22nd, at Pathway Church Westlink, 2001 N. Maize Rd., Wichita, Kansas 67212.
