Shirley was born to Lloyd Newton & Mary Rachel Hinkle on July 31st, 1938 in Wichita, KS
Shirley was raised in Wichita where she attended Wichita North High School graduating in 1956. She was a Twirler for the American Legion Drum and Bugle Corp and at Wichita North High – War Cry Dancer. She loved playing the flute in school and was the youngest granddaughter of a United States Civil War Veteran.
On March 12, 1966 she married the love of her life, Michael L Hyde and they raised 4 sons and 1 daughter in Wichita, KS.
She worked as a Beautician in her younger days for 25 years in which she transitioned into a licensed Farmer’s Agent for Mike Hyde Agency, where she worked with her husband, Michael L Hyde for numerous years and then retired to enjoy her later years.
She loved traveling, music, birds especially cardinals, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed going to the YMCA with her swim group, playing Bunco with her friends and cards with her family.
However, her most favorite activity was watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s extracurricular activities including plays, sports, music concerts, dance recitals, cheer competitions and many others.
She was an amazing woman, loved by many and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Michael L Hyde; brother, Gene Raymond (Norma) Hinkle of Basehor, KS; sons, Darryl (Mary) Irion of Goddard; Bryan (Lisa) Hyde of Haysville; Brit Hyde of Wichita; daughter, Deonna (Kenny) Hunt of Pittsburg, KS; and daughter-in-law Patty Irion of Bellevue, WA; 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Rachel Hinkle; sister, Jackie Beadles and son, William Irion.
A visitation for Shirley will be held Monday, May 8, 2023 at 12:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 1:30 PM, both at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials can be made in Shirley’s honor to the American Cancer Society.
