Sylvesta Ann Snavely, age 87, passed away in Wichita, Kansas on Saturday, April 23, 2022. Ann as she liked to be called, was born June 28, 1934 in Manila, Arkansas, the daughter of Bernie Allen and Ada Pearl (Manning) Lowery.
Ann grew up in the “Deep South” as she fondly referred to Arkansas and Mississippi. As a young child, she played baseball in school and that fueled her love of America’s pastime. As a young woman, she ventured into the nursing field and eventually became a lab technician.
On November 21, 1960, she married Max L. Snavely in Springfield, New Jersey. Early on, they enjoyed a life of worldwide travel. Later in life, Ann and Max enjoyed baseball spring training and getting way from the Colorado winters in their RV. She was an avid sports fan, watching whatever sporting event was on TV at the time and loved watching her grandsons play baseball and soccer from their earliest years through their college years. Her grandsons were her pride and joy.
Ann was very patriotic, wearing some sort of red, white and blue as much as she could and was very proud to let people know she was a proud Marine Corps parent and grandparent.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Max Snavely; brothers, Roy, Tommy and BG; sisters, Willie, Lois, Mary Estelle and Bernice.
Survivors include her son, Michael and wife, Jan Snavely, and grandsons, Preston and Alexander. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be held at a later date in one of Ann’s favorite areas, the Arizona Desert.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ResthavenMortuary-Cemetery.com for the Snavely family.
