

Ted Lewis Hootman. Ted's journey through life began on April 7, 1931, and ended on March 13, 2011, with his family by his side. Ted graduated from Kentucky Military Institute in 1949, Ohio State University in 1953, and was on the Varsity "O" Fencing Team 1951, 1952, and in 1953, as Captain. Ted was called into the Army in 1954 and served as battery commander with the 35th Anti Aircraft Artillery with the rank of 1st Lt. Upon leaving the army and joining the Columbus Pharmaceutical Company, Ted moved to Wichita and commenced a long career as a pharmaceutical representative. Thirty five years later he retired from Boehringer-Ingelheim. In the early 1960's Ted founded the Wichita Fencing Club, and recently, the Crosswinds Fencing Academy. After completing the Fencing Master's exam at the USAF Academy in Colorado, he earned the title of Maestro. Ted leaves behind his wife of 25 years, Joan and his sons; Michael (Bob), Mark (Norma), Matthew (Michelle) and John (Sara); 3 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, Wichita, KS. Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 10 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
