

Wallis, Thomas William “Tom”, 54, of Wichita, KS passed away on February 14, 2018 while on his honeymoon in Cancun, Mexico. Tom was born in Wichita, KS on May 17, 1963 to Ray and Brigitta Wallis. Ray was a Foreign Language teacher at East High School and Brigitta was born in Czechoslovakia, and taught Elementary school many years in Germany before coming to the United States to marry Ray. Tom attended East High School and then double majored in Math and Computer Science at Wichita State University. He went on to have a long career, over 30 years, as a Systems Manager for Wichita State in the Computer Science and Mathematics, Statistics and Physics departments. It was in the Physics department where he met the love of his life, Connie Adamek. He married for the first time at age 54. He finally found his true love. When he would look at her, his face would beam with his love for her. They were married on February 10, 2018 at East Heights United Methodist Church, where Tom was a member, and the following day went on their honeymoon to Cancun, Mexico. Tom passed while on a boating excursion. Tom was known as a generous, kind, and humble individual by all who knew him. He grew up enjoying comic books, and all things Star Trek and Star Wars. Tom loved going out to lunch on Thursdays with the “Geek Squad” (fellow computer associates) and in 30 years of luncheons, almost never missed a day. He was a devoted son who spent many years caring for his parents, as well as a devoted brother. Tom was ready to start a new adventurous chapter of his life with his beloved Connie, when his life was cut short much too soon. He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. Tom was preceded in death by his mother Brigitta J. (Wiedemann) Wallis, and father Ray W. Wallis, Jr.. Thomas is survived by his beloved wife of 4 days Connie Adamek-Wallis, his stepson Mathew, and his step-grandson Gerard. He is also survived by his sister Angela M. (Wallis) Case, her husband Scott A. Case and niece, Maxine Case. A celebration of life service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Saturday February 24, 2018 at East Heights United Methodist Church, 4407 E. Douglas Ave., Wichita. A lunch will immediately follow service. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Wichita. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences department of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics c/o Wichita State University Foundation.
