Valeria Pelzel, 96, of Wichita, Kansas passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at her home in Wichita. Valeria was born the second of six children to Victor and Eleanor Toepfer on October 18,1926 in Victoria, Kansas. Valeria and James Pelzel were united in marriage on April 30, 1949 at St. Fidelis Basilica in Victoria. She worked over the years as a postal clerk, telephone operator and Invoice Records Clerk for Montgomery Ward in Wichita. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother H. Victor Toepfer; sisters Rita Brungardt and LaVerne Wiesner. Survivors include her husband; son Michael (Adele) Pelzel, Virginia Beach, VA; sisters Helen McCourt and Joan Collins, Wichita, KS; sister-in-law Marilyn Toepfer, Denver, CO; grandsons Daniel (Nichole) Pelzel and Sean Pelzel, and great-grandson Maxwell Pelzel, all of Virginia Beach, and extended family. Rosary service will be at 10 am with Mass to follow at 10:30 am, both on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 258 N. Ohio Ave., Wichita. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Wichita. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to EWTN, 5817 Old Leeds Road, Irondale, AL 35210 or St. Anthony Catholic Church.
