Verna Rae (Rhoades) Vernon, 84, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, at her home in Mulvane, Kansas. She was born September 24, 1941 in Monte Vista, Colorado, the daughter of Winfrey Daniel and Verna Frances (Hindes) Rhoades.
Verna was united in marriage to Dwaine Eldon Vernon in January of 1960.
During her free time, she enjoyed painting, fishing, and spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Dwaine Vernon; along with her son, Rick Vernon.
She is survived by: her children, Donald "Todd" Vernon, Jason Daniel Vernon; her brother, Jimmy Rhoades; her grandchildren, Ricky Vernon, Daniel Vernon, and Trent Vernon; along with 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Graveside Committal Service will be held 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Garden of Freedom, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Verna's name has been established with: Kansas Humane Society, 3313 North Hillside Street, Wichita, Kansas 67219.
